Welcome from Principal Mark Rubin-Toles
Welcome to Orange Grove!
We want to build a school in which 100% of our students are at their grade level or above in the next two years, because we exist to empower students to seek out and tackle worthy challenges.
We have remarkable, caring teachers and staff. Our teachers come from a variety of backgrounds and bring a collective 344 years of educational experience to their craft. They teach in a middle school setting because they genuinely enjoy middle school students and the growth and challenges that come with the age. They care about creating a nurturing environment with high expectations for students.
Our students participate in a rigorous, varied, and innovative curriculum. Our teachers engage students in rich, meaningful curriculum to develop both academic excellence and the Deep Learning Proficiencies that our students will need to thrive in an ever-changing future: Creativity & Innovation, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking & Problem Solving, Systems Thinking, and Citizenship.
We are committed to Panther Pride: Respect, Responsibility, and Compassion. We are committed to fostering academic and personal excellence for all students. We strive to create an environment wherein we all act responsibly, respectfully, and compassionately toward others. One example is our Panther Pals program, in which 8th-grade students are trained to mentor, connect with, and guide 6th-grade students through the transition to middle school.
Our students have a full-spectrum education. Young adolescence is a time of incredible growth and development. The time spent at Orange Grove Middle School is a critical period in a young adolescent's life, which is why we strive to build a community in which they can flourish as athletes, scientists, writers, artists, musicians, bilingual communicators, historians, mathematicians, and scholars. Each of our students has physical education and arts education (band, choir, orchestra, or visual arts) every day of their academic career. All students learn a world language for the three years they are with us - either Spanish or Mandarin, spending an entire period every day developing the skills and knowledge they need to communicate effectively with millions of people across the globe.
We are excited for you to join us on this journey.
Sincerely,
Mark Rubin-Toles
